About africa-facts.org
africa-facts.org is an independent reference site about African geography, culture, history, food and travel. We’ve been publishing under this name since 2014. The goal is simple: a single, well-researched place to learn about Africa — every country, every region, free of advertorial fluff.
What we cover
The backbone of the site is a long-form profile of every one of the 54 sovereign African states. Each profile covers 15 standardised topics — geography & climate, brief history, culture & religion, economy, demographics, government, famous people, cuisine, sports, music & arts, wildlife, top attractions, visa & travel tips, and connectivity. We also publish weekly long-reads on culture, statistics, and the daily life of the continent.
Who runs it
africa-facts.org is independently owned and edited by Edon Abdullahu, founder of the Max Travel group. The site has no corporate sponsor, no algorithmic feed selling your attention, and no paid placements masquerading as articles. Sponsored Max Travel call-outs are clearly labelled where they appear — they help fund the site and keep the rest of the content free.
Our methodology — how we research
Quantitative data (population, area, GDP, currency, calling codes, languages) is sourced from the open Restcountries dataset (which itself draws on World Bank, the CIA World Factbook and Wikidata) and verified against current World Bank statistics. Historical narratives are written from established secondary sources and then fact-checked against country-specific encyclopedic references. Travel context is informed by partner relationships in 30+ countries through the Max Travel network.
Editorial standards
- Accuracy first. Where a number changes year to year (population, GDP), we cite the most recent World Bank figure available.
- No invented facts. If a claim cannot be verified from at least one reliable secondary source, it is removed before publishing.
- Original imagery. All hero images on country profiles are produced specifically for africa-facts.org. We do not use uncredited stock photography.
- Voice. Editorial, factual, vivid. We don’t do clickbait headlines or “you won’t believe” framing.
- Corrections. Errors get fixed publicly. If you spot one, please tell us.
AI disclosure
We use large language models as a research and drafting assistant. Every article is reviewed for factual accuracy before publishing. AI helps with structure and consistency at scale; the editorial decisions, fact-checks, and final voice are human.
